Disclaimer

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with traffic stop and go is not a collision avoidance or warning device. ACC is for highway use only and should not be used in poor weather, heavy or varying traffic, or on winding or slippery roads. Driver remains responsible to slow or stop the vehicle to avoid a collision. Acceleration after the vehicle comes to a complete stop will only occur when the vehicle has been stopped for less than three seconds. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations. Image is for illustration only.

Never rely completely on Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) and be sure to use proper lane changing procedures. BCA is activated when the vehicle is travelling at least 60 km/h and when the turn signals are activated. BCA will not detect every object or vehicle and will not prevent accidents. The braking function may not always avoid a collision. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. BCA is dependent on the side, distance, angle and relative speed difference between the vehicle and other vehicles and will not operate if sensors are obscured. Always look over your shoulder and use your mirrors to confirm clearance. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.

Driver Attention Warning (DAW) is only a notification system and will not influence the direction or speed of the vehicle. DAW will not prevent accidents. DAW does not replace attentive and safe driving. Always ensure that you pay careful attention while driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations. Image is for illustration only.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) is designed to detect vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists that are directly in front of the vehicle. FCA will not detect all vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists or other objects. FCA will not work on winding or hilly roads, during certain weather conditions such as rain, snow, fog and any other times of limited visibility. The speed at which FCA initiates full braking depends on the type of FCA system equipped on the KONA. FCA initiates full braking at speeds between 10 and 60 km/h (vehicle detection) and 10 and 60 km/h (pedestrian detection) if the KONA is equipped with the FCA “camera type” system. FCA initiates full braking at speeds between 10 and 75 km/h (vehicle detection), 10 and 65 km/h (pedestrian detection) or 10 and 65 km/h (cyclist detection) if the KONA is equipped with the FCA “camera and radar type” system. FCA will not detect all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists under certain conditions. See Owner’s Manual for detailed descriptions of example conditions in which FCA may not detect a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist. FCA is not a substitute for safe driving. Always check your surroundings when driving. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.

Highway Driving Assist (HDA), when used in conjunction with Lane Following Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with traffic stop and go, is for highway use only and can help keep the vehicle centred in its lane while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead only when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road. HDA will reduce cruise control set speed as the vehicle approaches a curve in the highway. HDA should not be used in poor weather, heavy or varying traffic or on winding or slippery roads. HDA will not work under all circumstances and on all highways and will not prevent loss of control. Driver remains responsible to slow or stop the vehicle to avoid a collision. For HDA to maintain the posted speed limit of a highway, the system must be set to the exact speed limit. Only select provincial and territorial highways will apply to this feature of the system. Driver remains at all times responsible for determining the correct speed limit and to abide by such speed limits, including in situations in which a speed limit may be altered, but such change in speed limit is not recognized by the navigation system, such as in the cases of reduced speeds in construction zones or where posted speed limits have been recently increased or decreased. Driver remains responsible for controlling the vehicle to avoid a collision or other accidents. Driver is responsible for maintaining the data of the navigation system up to date. HDA will only fully function when the navigation map data is available for the section of highway that is being driven on. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.

Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keeping Assist operates when vehicle speed exceeds 60 km/h and only when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road and detected by the system. It will not prevent loss of control. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations. Image is for illustration only.

Lane Following Assist (LFA) can help keep the vehicle centered in its lane only when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road. LFA will not work under all circumstances and will not prevent loss of control. LFA is a supplemental assist, and does not replace the need for extreme care and attention by the driver. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations. Image is for illustration only.

Never rely exclusively on Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist; it is not a substitute for attentive driving or the driver using the brakes to avoid a collision. Always look over your shoulder and use your mirrors to confirm rear clearance. There are limitations to the function, detection, range and clarity of the system. The system may not detect every vehicle and may not avoid every collision. This system does not detect stationary objects. Vehicle must be in reverse and has to be travelling at 8 km/h or less. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations. Image is for illustration only.

When the vehicle is parked and the engine has been turned off, the Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) can help to alert the driver if the rear door(s) have been opened at any point after the vehicle was unlocked at the beginning of the journey. Upon turning the engine off, ROA will provide an audible alert and a visual alert on the instrument cluster. ROA is not a substitute for driver attentiveness. Always make sure you check rear seats before exiting the vehicle. Do not solely rely on ROA to determine if rear seats are empty. Never leave a child unattended in a vehicle. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations. Image is for illustration only.

When the vehicle is parked, Safe Exit Warning (SEW) can alert occupants planning to exit the vehicle when a vehicle is approaching from behind. SEW does not prevent occupants from exiting. SEW may not detect every vehicle and may not avoid an accident. SEW is not a substitute for attentive operation of the vehicle. Always monitor the vehicle’s surroundings before any passengers exit the vehicle. SEW operates for approximately 10 minutes after ignition is turned off, unless doors are locked, at which time it turns off. See Owner’s Manual for important details and limitations. Image is for illustration only.
